The name Leo Gabin is not the name of a single person. It is the collective name of three Belgian artists; Lieven Deconinck, Gaetan Begerem, and Robin De Vooght. They create their own art by re-purposing found digital content through many different kinds of media. This includes video art as well as paintings and installations. They are well known for their abstract paintings, like those in the slideshow, but also for their satirical videos that bring up issues like technology and human interaction. While I cannot upload the video due to its file type, you can check out one of Leo Gabin's videos at this URL: http://vimeo.com/62998559 I think that the paintings by these guys are awesome, but I am thrown for a loop by a couple of their videos. I can understand the message they are trying to get across, but the way they go about it doesn't do anything for me. I know that they were probably going for the low-quality video effect, but to me it just seems sloppy. | |

I have started the basic sketch for my home project, and so far its going well. I like the composition that I chose; it is an asymmetrical and open composition with much of the drawing happening on the left side of the horizontal paper. I will continue to work on it more this weekend so I can hopefully get some value down.
